India is at an important juncture in the stage of the world economy. It has all the potential to become the third-largest economy of the world by 2030. Today more than 54 percent of the total population is below 25 years of age. However, statistics also show that only 2 percent of the employable population has skills development training which means there is a huge scope for skilling the youth of India.
The role of apprenticeship has become critical to tap the potential of our youth and growth of the economy. The Government as well as the private sector is coming forward to train with the best resources, manpower, and funds. Some short term courses for skill development under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, International Skill Training and Udaan are conducted with a focus on apprenticeship, including aviation, agriculture, manufacturing units, etc. With the help of such programs, we can create awareness among youth to take advantage of the apprenticeship in becoming job-ready and future ready.
Apprenticeship is training that allows young people to learn the practical skills needed for certain jobs by working with and learning from qualified experts in a particular field. This experience teaches trainees how to use the tools and technology that their employers use everyday, allowing them to learn fast and gain all of the necessary knowledge they need to be successful in their line of work.
